Real lives. Real data. Real results.

At Elcella, we believe the best proof comes from real lives, not just numbers. That’s
why we ran a 12-week consumer trial - tracking weight, waistline, appetite,
cravings, energy, and daily habits. The results speak for themselves.

Inside Our 12‑Week Consumer Study

Why We Did It
The goal of our consumer trial was to show how Elcella works for people in everyday life. Over 12 weeks, participants tracked changes in weight, waist circumference, appetite, cravings, energy, and lifestyle habits. Our consumer trial followed over 3 years worth of clinical trials.

What We Measured
Weight and waist circumference and weekly surveys on appetite, cravings, energy, and lifestyle habits. Progress tracked at week 0, 4, 8, and 12 weeks.

What we tracked:

Weight change Food & Drink Cravings Self-confidence Waist
circumference change
Food noise Energy Levels

Average Change in Body
Weight and Waist Circumference

Change in Body Weight & Waist
Improved Appetite Control 94%
Reduced Food Noise 94%
Increased Post-Meal Fullness 88%
Reduced Hunger Between Meals 70%
Higher Energy Levels 76%
Improved Self-Confidence 76%
Increased Healthy Choices 88%
*Data from a consumer trial of 51 people, of which 34 completed 12 weeks of Elcella to clinical standards

Validation

Pre‑Clinical Research

Our pre-clinical work demonstrates that targeted nutrient delivery can activate specific colonic G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), stimulating the natural release of key appetite-regulating gut hormones. This mechanism mimics the body’s post-meal response in a patented, nutrient-based way.

Our approach mimics the natural post-meal rise of these gut hormones in a novel, natural and patented approach.

Clinical Research

Our clinical findings indicate that a specific combination of medium and long chain fatty acids, precisely delivered to the colon, increases natural fullness signals (GLP-1 & PYY), helping explain why participants reported reduced appetite after use. These results support the potential of enhancing natural nutrient-signalling pathways to safely promote appetite control through the body’s own biology.

This result supports the idea that our approach, boosting natural nutrient signalling pathways, can support the body release its own appetite-lowering hormones in a targeted, and importantly, safe approach.

Our Scientists

Scientist 1

Dr. Madusha Peiris, PhD

Founder & CEO

A world-leading expert in gut health with a PhD in Neuroscience

Dr. Madusha Peiris is a leading authority on gut hormones and appetite regulation, with over a decade of research on how the gut communicates with the brain to control hunger, weight, and metabolism. Her work bridges gut physiology, nutrition, and hormonal health, with a focus on obesity, clinical trials, and the gut–brain–hormone axis. Madusha is known for translating complex science into practical insights, especially for women navigating hormonal change, perimenopause, and weight management. She is also the founder and CEO of Elcella.

Scientist 2

Dr. Rubina Aktar, PhD

Co-Founder & COO

A gut physiology specialist with a PhD in Neurogastroenterology

Dr. Ruby Aktar is a leading expert in gut–brain communication, with over 12 years of pioneering research at the Wingate Institute, Queen Mary University of London. She specialises in the enteric nervous system - the gut’s “second brain” - and how microbes and nutrients shape appetite, mood, and digestive health. Ruby’s work spans IBS, microbiota, and nutrient signalling, uncovering how gut-brain pathways drive conditions like disordered appetite and weight regulation. A recognised lecturer and international researcher, she brings world-class expertise and clarity to the science of how our gut influences the way we feel, eat, and live.

Combined expertise together: Dr Madusha Peiris & Dr Rubina Aktar have contributed to groundbreaking research in gut and neurogastroenterology, with expertise spanning laboratory, clinical, and translational science.
